Were you ever at a party in Barbados and felt like the DJ knew exactly what the crowd wanted? Well, there’s a high possibility that it could have been none other than Barbadian born and bred DJ T.G. At age 31 and also a proud product of the DREAM REAL management team, he’s now the person to whom many surrender their soul for several hours of musical release.

With Tyson Griffith being his real name, it doesn’t take much to connect the dots to recognize the origin of his DJ title. He may be a simple man with a simple name but while on set, he’s far from average! In fact, he thrives where other DJs flounder. What makes him different is that he embraces the technical but authentic elements of the art such as live on set scratching, mixing BPMs (Beats Per Minute) to perfection and most importantly, understanding music as a behavioral science which makes him matchless in comparison to the others in the industry.

This great love for the art actually started at the age of 15 but it only became his absolute obsession at age 23; thus, marking the start of his professional career. That said, this new chosen life path came with it’s own personal challenges as he was terrified and certainly intimidated by the immense pressure of having to perform for live audiences. Neither did it help that by nature, he is a shy individual. Nonetheless, he believes that his positive attitude was the light that brightened his path as he cast his fears aside and pressed on. At present, when placed behind the turntables, all negative thoughts are put aside as he transforms into a musical sapient who then unleashes his amped and energetic performances from start to finish.

DJ T.G’s first ever stage appearance was at the Sugar Ultra Lounge for their annual Christmas party back in 2010, after being encouraged to submit a demo to his manager Matthew Ashby (better known as Fewwture). Was it a good performance you may ask? Well… let’s just say that he’s had better days. At present, he often reflects on these times with his 8 year old daughter in admiration of how far he has come today and continues to grow from strength to strength.
Apart from family matters and in the professional world, T.G is all about the crowd. While performing, he often basks in that special feeling he gets when he sees his party rocking and his audience in seventh heaven. It’s the unity and the mutual joy that people share which keeps him going. While they are under his spell, he then adds his creative edge whether it be scratching or “trick mixing” which he uses as an educational moment in showing the audience that not all perceived new songs are actually new and truth be told, the crowd goes wild in amazement of his talents.

Due to the knowledge gained over the years and time spent researching musical origins and their distinctive genres, his selections are often quite different from the usual go-to tracks of others. In addition, he also drills himself with intense 30 minute weekday practice sessions in his bedroom after his day job as a Studio Engineer and sessions of 1-2 hours on the weekend.

T.G keeps setting the bar high and as a result, the opportunities keep coming as he continues his transition from the bedroom to the big stages. The appreciation for his work is absolutely undeniable, to the point where he is a “must have” at many of the popular premium events on the island of Barbados. T.G is now the resident DJ for Copacabana and a regular face for Aura’s VIP section for Grand Kadooment. Likewise, the Mix Nutz’s OMG event entitled Wash-Off, Machel Montano’s Concert in 2017, the Koncept Fashion Show and DJ Puffy’s Unlabelled, just to name a few, are also events at which he was certainly the life of the party. In addition, he’s also a frequent face at Mojos and recently, he slayed the Nauti Lime event at the One Eleven East Beach Bar. See video below!
What does the future hold for DJ T.G?  With his love for traveling, DJ T.G intends to export his talents and tap into the international markets, while maintaining his ongoing business relationships in Barbados. We are certain that with his knowledge, skills, candid personality and absolute dedication, not only will he continue to top the local events but dominate whatever he sets his mind to and continue on his own charted path to success.
I consider that my profound musical knowledge across many different genres, whether it be soca, dancehall, reggae, hip hop, house, or even music for the runway, certainly sets me apart from my competition and defines me as a DJ who is versatile and simply… different!
