We should always get to know and understand an individual before we judge. Therefore, let’s get to know NEC, the 27 year old entrepreneur and the owner of N.E.C, a brand with many faces. Whereas most persons may know him as a refined poet and spoken word artist based in Barbados, we welcome you to explore a little deeper as he transcends into other disciplines such as becoming an aspiring singer, a male model promoting self-love and consequently, an interesting individual.

Nicholas “Nec” Boyce is an absolute game changer. In fact, let’s call him a progressive paradigm as he uses his new crafts to express a variant of things, especially those which tackle the stereotypes cast upon male individuals. His preferred themes are quite controversial in nature but he sees them as necessary in today’s era. He doesn’t subscribe to machoism neither does he support male chauvinism.

“I like to switch things up but that’s just me. I don’t think that as a male, I should have to abide by the rules of acceptance that have been implemented over the long history of ours as a human race. I too was brought up this way and conditioned by the general rules of society as it relates to gender and the behavioral patterns of males. Due to this, I’ve also had to fight a mental battle as to break and change my mindset from these views. Furthermore, I love myself and I’ll fight forever to express myself in whatever way that I see fit, even though it may not be what society molds us to think.” -Nec
With regards to these views, Nec chose change! A complete paradigm shift in mindset! He is now leading the charge in his “self-love” diaspora as he embraces fashion, grooming and even skin care with the aim of “inspiring other shy men to step up and to believe in their own authentic selves.” Such things are not considered to be masculine or macho but should we really have to hide if it’s what captures our interest? Simply put, no! He agrees that not everyone has to be as over the top as himself but he often opines that there is absolutely nothing wrong with these things whether masculine or feminine.

Without much observation, it is clear that Nec also has a flair for the dramatic. Anyone who knows him well would always say “if you want to find Nec, look for the most striking person in the room and without a doubt, yup!…that’s him!” He loves the idea of this perception that persons have of him and it must be noted that Nec is only just getting started!

Interesting Facts

“I actually do #mcm (Male Crush Mondays) alongside the occasional #wcw (Women Crush Wednesdays). I always talk about how wonderful and sexy I am and I wear anything I find interesting.”

Yes! There is nothing wrong with men taking care of themselves. Interesting way of self-expression though.

Interesting article and individual. I personally believe in accepting the difference and versatility of each individual we come into contact with, it can be refreshing to accept difference for what it is. These differences are actually strengths fighting within a society that only wishes to conform everyone in accordance with socially accepted conventions or standards.
Self love is important, it encourages and gives an individual the strength to fight for what they believe in and deserve.
Guys are taking more care of themselves these days especially with all the beard care and facial kits provided by some barbers etc, being more exploratory with fashion and style.. dont be confused with the two …fashion is what we buy, style is how we wear it..
    Continue doing you champ!

Yeah I do agree , I am a heterosexual male and I do believe that we are conditioned to believe that men aren’t suppose to express themselves and that a man taking care of himself is feminine. Even me myself, have been forced to fit in when I want to stand out with fear of being casted out as a gay person . So I like that and there is truth in what he said. Excellent outlook Nec.
